The 15th of January 2009, Copenhagen.

Dear all.
I apologise for the long absence updating the news on this page, but in truth, the news for a while was pretty dire. I now have recovered from serious illness and I'm slowly returning to my life of work and music. I have written a bunch of new tunes and will be recording a new full length album this spring.
I will keep you all posted from here, but additionally you can find me on both www.myspace.com/kiraonline as well as on facebook.

Song of the year!
This Monday Kira received a "Robert", which is the Danish Film Academy's annual prize for "Best song of the year", for "Riders of the freeway". A new video for the tune will be finished by the middle of the month..

We have added new tour-dates and Kira has posted a new blog on myspace. New songs are in the making and all is otherwise quiet before the storm..
Riders of the freeway is nominated for a "Robert", the Danish film academy's annual prize as "Song of the year" and a video, partly shot during Kira's recent trip to Los Angeles will be done shortly.
On this note we will like to thank you for what ever you contributed to this past and fairly pleasant year and wish you all a very happy new year!

Kira og Anisette spiller koncert i Ellebæk fængslet.
Pressemeddelelse 23. september 2008

Kira and the Ghost Riders spiller første job på deres Danmarks-turné i Ellebæk fængslet i Sandholm-lejren d.30 september. Koncerten er en dobbelt koncert med Savage Rose og idéen opstod da Kira og Anisette og en række andre kunstnere optrådte for beboerne i Center Sandholm, i protest mod regeringens asyl-politik tidligere på året. Der sidder pt flere ”ikke kriminelle” asyl-ansøgere fængslede, fordi myndighederne frygter at de ellers ville forsvinde eller gå under jorden. Koncerten i Ellebæk fængslet bliver et led i Amnestys kampagne ”Small places tour” og det er Amnesty International der stiller midlerne til rådighed for afviklingen af koncerten. ”Small Places tour”, er en international kampagne, som fejre 60 året for FN’s verdenserklæring om menneske rettigheder.

Derudover har Kira and the Ghost Riders planlagt yderligere 3 koncerter på de danske asyl-centre i forbindelse med deres efterårs tur, på henholdsvis center Sandholm, Center Jelling og Center Avnstrup.
De tre koncerter er arrangeret i samarbejde med Dansk Røde Kors, der sammen med Dansk Artist forbund dækker udgifterne i forbindelse med koncerterne.
Paradis Blomster på Christianshavn vil også denne gang være med til at udsmykke lokalerne.

Kira udtaler: ”Sagen om de afviste asyl-ansøgere er blevet lidt af en hjertesag for mig og jeg føler at det er vigtigt at følge op på initiativet i foråret, så det ikke kun var mens debatten rasede på sit højeste at vi var der. Vi vil gerne bruge nogen kræfter på at give noget god energi til de mennesker som er kommet hertil landet under ulykkelige omstændigheder og som stadig ikke har mulighed for at skabe sig en værdig tilværelse i Danmark. Når de ikke kan komme til os, må vi komme til dem og musikken er et godt sted at mødes og fejre det som forbinder os, i en tid hvor der er så meget fokus på det som skiller os. Vi håber på at kunne gøre en lille forskel og give dem en fest for en aften.”

Hurray, today is the day for our brand new album “The Rail Train, The Meadow, The Freeway and The Shadows” to be released in Denmark. We have been waiting for this for a while, since it’s been finished since spring, so it is with great anticipation that this day has arrived. I’m really proud of this album and I hope that you will take it to heart. It also brings the welcome of my new band The Ghost Riders. We produced the album our self’s and will be hitting the road in October.
Furthermore, it’s the launch of our brand new website, which I think is pretty amazing. It’s the work of Frederik …., who is both the mastermind and the graphic designer. Find him at pixelministeriet.com

Dear friends.
I have fled to a small Island of Denmark called Bornholm. It’s a beautiful place. The view from where I’m sitting right now is overlooking the coastline, cliffs falling to the sea and small hills draped in moss and autumn leaves. I’m by my self again. Playing my guitar, taking walks. Thinking too much.
Recently finished a small tour of Denmark, which included 3 concerts in Danish refugee-camps, as well as a concert in a Danish prison, mainly housing refugees that have been denied asylum. It’s a really grim scenario and I have been very upset about it. For the Danes or any Danish speaking friends, it’s possible to read an article about the event if you click on the following link:

It’s pretty amazing to read some of the comments!!
It was really overwhelming to go to all of these places, to meet all of these people and here their stories. It gave me a more indebt view on how these people live and the conditions they are granted. I’m so fucking mad at our current government. Its SO infuriates me that many of these families have been sitting nicely tucked away and out of sight for more than a decade! Some have been living in these camps for more than 13 years. They raise their children here, with no prospect of ever getting the opportunity to work or become a part of the Danish society. There are some cold winds blowing through our small country these years!
Hopefully Obama will be elected and help to change the direction of global politics. He sure has inspired and touched me from afar and I have a lot of faith in him as an inspiring figure for both common people and highly ranked politicians. We are planning a party at my place for election night, which means we will have to stay up till 9 in the morning Danish time, to get the results. I’m sure it will be quite a love fest. My dear friend and fellow band-mate Ned is back in the states now, to be around for the big day. We have been obsessing about the whole thing for nearly a year now and when ever he was around our place, all the computers would be turned on at once, gathering updates about from the campaign trail...
Anyway, I will run outside now and seize the day…
Writing some new stuff. Might be good…
